Description
This lamp was crafted from a dried Chinese bottle gourd. The motif consists of a series of waves in the lower part, each wave is punctuated with small holes and bigger holes on each crest. The upper sphere is covered with parallel lines shooting up towards the summit of the gourd. In between the lines and on a background of holes are three larger holes which add movement to the pattern. The cut outs were carried out using a high-speed mini-drill fitted with diamond tipped burrs. This is a very long an intricate task and demands concentration and precision. The outer surface is lightly dyed and waxed to protect and embellish the shell.
The lamp base is made from a lathe turned exotic wood (Togo) fitted with a 1.8m power (220v) cable and switch. The lamp is fitted with a 3W tube led filament bulb which has a long life (25000 hours) and no heat. Alternatively the lamp can be fitted with a less powerful less bright bulb giving an orange glow ( photos 1,5,6,7,8). Please give your choice when ordering.
When lit this lamp provides a spectacular light show with complex projections on any surrounding surfaces. As with call Artalia creations, this lamp is a one of a kind and was lovingly crafted in the South of France.
