Description
A small table lamp with a series of bands of of holes of differing sizes which cover the surface of the dried gourd . This motif is directly inspired by a Japanese artist who is known for her graphic designs in the form of different sized circles on varying supports like pumpkins. Here the circles are replaced with holes but the overall effect is similar except using light/dark. In daylight this lamp is a decorative object in its own right with its sensual curves and lovely honey colour on an exotic wooden base from Togo ( wood turned by local sculpturs in a fair trading situation)
In the dark the light show takes over projecting complex shadows on its surroundings, a truly magical ambiance is created and transforms the room where it is installed.
This is a one of a kind lamp designed by me and entirely created by hand ( and a mini drill !) in my workshop in the south of France.
The interior of the lamp is sterilised and the exterior is protected with 2 layers of a transparent wax.
The sculpted gourd is mounted on an exotic wooden stand (Iroko) and fitted with an E14 4W LED with filaments and a power cord with on/off switch 1.8 m long. The last photo shows the unmounted lamp with a coin to indicate the relative size.
Height (with stand) : 24cm width : 11cm weight : 300g
